The Colchester Gladiators’ annual Rookies & Legends Night returns to the Victoria Inn Colchester on Friday, 10th April, with players past and present joining us for the evening.
The Colchester Gladiators, one of Britain’s oldest American football clubs with a history spanning more than 40 years, will be here with former players alongside the current squad, who compete in Division One.
The night includes jersey presentations, stories from former players and the chance to meet the team ahead of the new season.
“Rookies & Legends Night is a celebration of everything the Colchester Gladiators stand for – past, present, and future. It’s a chance to honour the players who built the foundations while embracing the next generation coming through,” said Jamie Carruthers, chairman of the Colchester Gladiators.
The Victoria Inn has supported the Gladiators for several years, during a period that has seen the club win a national championship and establish itself in Division One.
“The support from local businesses like the Victoria Inn is vital. They’re not just sponsors – they’re part of the family,” Jamie added.
Looking ahead to the coming year, the club is aiming to build on its return to the top tier of the sport.
“Returning to Division One last year off our Championship-winning Division 2 campaign was a big step, but the focus now is more than just competing – we want to establish ourselves as a playoff-calibre team,” Jamie said.

Home games take place at Corporal Budd VC Gymnasium, Berechurch Road, Colchester CO2 9RQ, and it’s a great chance to show your support for the club – and we’ll see you at the bar afterwards for a pint.
